Additional program­specific admission requirements

There are additional admission requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Human Movement and Sports Science as a major, minor or sports as a teaching subject in teacher training programs. These include: 

proof of fitness and athletic aptitude in the form of a doctor’s note about your

1. athletic fitness
2. proof of your general rescue abilities(first-aid training)
3. proof of your swimming abilities (German gold badge)
4. proof of basic track and field abilities (German silver sports badge)

Important: If you are admitted, you must upload all proof within the 7-day enrollment period in the digital enrollment application. As this deadline is very tight, you should prepare all certificates and proof well in advance. The doctor’s note must have been issued within the last 3 months. The deadline is the start of the application period on 1 June.

Proof for b–d is not required for:

• transfer students with successful academic records in their previous sports or human movement degree program,
• students changing subjects or focus within the sports and human movement degree programs at the University of Hamburg’s Institute of Human Movement Science,
• applicants who have already completed a related university program, or
• students enrolled in an exchange program recognized by the University.

The institutions that issue the supporting documents and proof decide upon the comparability of the proof b–d. In these cases, proof of equivalence must also be submitted when you enroll.

You must also prove that you have English skills (B2) for the Bachelor of Arts in Human Movement and Sports Science as a major, minor, or teaching subject when you enroll. This proof is not required if English is your native language or you have earned a degree in an English-language program.

When applying for a bachelor’s degree program in teacher training, you must upload proof that you have taken part in an anonymous online self-assessment (OSA). The outcome of the OSA has no influence whatsoever on the selection procedure for teacher training degree programs at the Universitity of Hamburg. The purpose is to inspire reflection upon your choice of study. There are 4 teacher training-specific OSAs (in German only). 

To take part in the Career Counselling for Teachers OSA, proceed as follows:

• Open the anonymous online self-assessment (OSA) (In German only)
• Choose the OSA for the program you wish to study (note: The „Erwartungscheck Lehramt für Sonderpädagogik“ applies to Teacher Training in Special Needs Education for Primary Schools and Teacher Training in Special Needs Education for Lower and Upper Secondary Education (bachelor of education).
• Complete all of the OSA tasks..
• You can download proof of participation after you have completed all of the tasks. When you finish, upload this when you apply online.
