We understand Education for Sustainable Development as a transformative and transdisciplinary approach to learning that empowers all participants to develop critical thinking, recognize systemic interconnections, and actively contribute to solving global challenges alongside diverse societal actors.
The Team Co-Creation & Engagement is actively committed to implementing the “Hamburg Masterplan Bildung für Nachhaltige Entwicklung 2030” (Masterplan Education for Sustainable Development 2030), which was adopted by the Senate of Hamburg in June 2021 and is led by the Authority for Environment, Climate, Energy, and Agriculture (BUKEA). Central to the Master Plan are approximately 100 measures developed across six "forums" focusing on early childhood, school-based, out-of-school, vocational and higher education, as well as on the administrative unit “districts”.
As co-lead of the Higher Education Forum, we work in tandem with the Authority for Science, Research, and Equality (BWFG) to regularly bring together public and private Hamburg universities, coordinate exchanges, partnerships, and calls for proposals, connect with other educational sectors, contribute expertise across forums within working groups, and represent higher education interests in the Master Plan’s steering committee. Our goal is to structurally embed Education for Sustainable Development within Hamburg’s educational landscape.
