Knowledge Exchange Fund
The Knowledge Exchange Fund, established in 2020, enables researchers at the University of Hamburg to implement transfer-oriented projects with a direct connection to the Hamburg metropolitan region and beyond. Each year, the fund supports 12 to 15 projects with seed funding of up to €30,000 for a period of nine to twelve months. The projects can focus on local issues ranging from the city itself to the broader Hamburg metropolitan area or even extend to international contexts. They can be developed collaboratively with companies, municipalities, associations, foundations, groups, or individuals. A two-stage review process ensures the quality and relevance of selected projects.
The Team Co-Creation & Engagement is involved in shaping the themes for the annual call and designs the accompanying program to foster cross-faculty networking, methodological inspiration and intervision. This includes two internal workshops for strategic impulses and mutual learning (Kick-Off & Midterm) complemented by a public closing event within a larger regional gathering to showcase and discuss results. Additionally, individual and small group counselling are made available as needed, ensuring tailored support throughout the projects’ lifecycle.
