Campus Community Partnerships

We build, maintain and care for sustainable networks within and between local civil society, foundations, cultural institutions, politics, public administration, and academia—so-called Campus-Community Partnerships. Through these efforts, we strengthen the University of Hamburg’s role as an active and responsible co-creator of its neighbourhoods, contributing to sustainable development and realizing the vision of open, transdisciplinary campus locations—such as the Science City Bahrenfeld. We explore locally relevant topics, foster connections with faculty and departments, and create platforms for knowledge exchange, transdisciplinary collaboration, and non-formal learning—such as pop-up campuses, festivals, and dialogue forums . Additionally, we promote societal engagement through research and teaching, with a particular focus on supporting the Hamburg metropolitan region.
