Application for TriStaX 2026: Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Tech Transfer
This call for applications is directed at staff members within the faculties and central administration of the University of Hamburg, whose daily work touches upon themes of this year's program. Good English language skills, and a willingness to actively participate are required.
Overview
- Target group: administrative staff at University of Hamburg whose activities are related to the program topic;
- Program objectives: professional development and continuing education with skills development in an intercultural environment;
- Program duration: 28 Sept - 2 October 2026;
- Funding: The Department for International Affairs at UHH and Northwestern University will fund the travel, accommodation, and program expenses for the duration of the TriStaX program;
- Application deadline: 27 May 2026
- Interviews: from 15 to 25th of June. Notifications of acceptance to follow.

The program is funded under the Excellence Strategy of the Federal Government and the Länder.
Application requirements:
- employed at the University of Hamburg during the time of the program
- advanced proficiency in English (equiv. to B1/B2 or higher)
- current or future involvement in the program topic and related fields
- potential to derive benefit for the field as a whole and beyond personal development
- approval from supervisor
- willingness to participate in a group project

*please be aware that the visa process for the United States is currently very strict and subject to change with some nationalities not being able to get a visa at all. We recommend to research the procedure for your specific case before starting the TriStaX application.
Selection and evaluation criteria:
- clear motivation for participation
- program’s relation to day-to-day duties and field of work
- convincing presentation of added value for the field as well as potential ideas for future projects
- contribution to the internationalization of the field
You will also be invited to a short interview, conducted in English.

Report and knowledge sharing:
A detailed report must be submitted no later than six weeks after the end of the program.
There must be a willingness to share knowledge gained with other University of Hamburg members at internationalization events.
