Trilateral staff development and exchange program (TriStaX)
Learning with and from each other – across three continents
Northwestern University, Stellenbosch University and the University of Hamburg organize a trilateral staff development and exchange program (TriStaX) on an annual basis. The program focuses on the professional development and continuing education of administrative staff, the learning and sharing of skills, and the gathering of international experience. The framework of this program is that the three universities host various themes on a rotational basis. The program started in 2022 at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, and took place at Northwestern University in the U.S. in 2023 and at the University of Hamburg in 2024.
From 15-19 September 2025 Stellenbosch University (South Africa) will host program participants.
Participants from university administration, whose area of work is related to the respective program topic offered, are welcome to apply.
2025 Program: Cultivating Global Excellence through Inclusive International Competences
This year provides a five-day program developed by Stellenbosch University on the topic of inclusive international competencies. It addresses in detail the topics of intercultural skills and inclusion and aims to provoke a joint discussion on internationalization within diverse university fields. The topics are introduced alongside best-practice examples from Stellenbosch University, which will be explored in joint discussions.
Participants will learn how to transfer the newly acquired knowledge to their own institutional culture, benefitting themselves, their colleagues and their home institution.
