Become a sponsor!
Whether companies, charitable foundations, or private individuals—there are many reasons to become a sponsor of the Germany Scholarship:
- Companies and charitable foundations sponsoring the Germany Scholarship not only support excellent students, inspire high academic achievement, and take a stand against the problem of skilled worker shortage; by piquing students' interest in their organizations, companies and charitable foundations also have an opportunity to recruit outstanding trainees. In addition to providing financial support, you can offer scholarship holders other forms of assistance (for example, internships, training, or professional development), thereby generating interest in your company. We make your commitment public.
- Private individuals who sponsor a Germany Scholarship assist talented young persons in shaping the future of and taking on responsibility for our society. Your commitment to support young talent helps enhance the Hamburg region. Did you receive financial assistance yourself so that you could reach your goals and would now like to invest in young talent yourself?
- Whether company, charitable foundation, or private individual—your contribution to the Germany Scholarship introduces you to potential qualified staff, provides you with an insight into research and academia, helps you shape your local public image, and boosts regional networks.
Incentives for your commitment
- You will be supporting high-achieving young researchers.
- By donating only €150 per month (€1,800 per year), you are supporting a scholarship worth €300 (€3,600 altogether).
- The Federal German Government has doubled its contribution.
- But even smaller contributions are welcome! In this case, a scholarship is made up of contributions from multiple sponsors. Please make out smaller donations to the University Society Hamburg (Universitäts-Gesellschaft Hamburg) or the Hamburgische Wissenschaftliche Stiftung (Hamburg Scientific Foundation) and indicate the payment reason "Deutschlandstipendium" (Germany Scholarship).
- You may select a specific subject area from the more than 170 degree programs offered at the University.
- As a sponsor you have the opportunity to participate in university life and to get to know the teaching and research staff.
- You will be connecting with tomorrow's top leaders. In addition to providing financial support, you can offer scholarship holders other forms of assistance (for example, internships, training, or professional development), thereby generating interest in your company.
- In this way, you will be strengthening your own role in your regional network.
Did we spark your interest?
In the first four years since the the program's inception, German universities have established nearly 30,000 scholarships. Sponsors include corporations, small- and medium-sized businesses, charitable foundations, and individual citizens. The Germany Scholarship creates networks which benefit not only students but also private sponsors and universities.
In March 2016 the Federal German Government published the results of its evaluation of the Germany Scholarship. According to a survey conducted as part of this evaluation, 86 percent of sponsors all across Germany are very satisfied with the program and intend to provide continuous support over several years.
Hamburg's universities joined the Germany Scholarship program rather late. Whereas numerous companies and universities in other federal states began awarding Germany Scholarships in 2011 and are very happy with the results, Hamburg has some catching up to do. As the largest higher education institution in northern Germany, Universität Hamburg aims to follow suit. Since 2014 the University has intensified its commitment in order to match the efforts of similar-sized universities.
Supporting young people is one of the most rewarding investments you can make—on both a personal and a societal level—and is likewise paramount for ensuring Germany's future viability as a center of finance, industry, commerce, and trade.
