If you would like to better assess your current level of German, we recommend taking the Placement Test German as a Foreign Language (Klett).

Participation in Regular Courses (B1 - C1)

The regular German courses (B1 - C1) at the Language Center are also open to interested researchers if there are available places. The current course offerings will be available on the Language Center’s website from february at the following link: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/sprachenzentrum/daf/kurse.html.

Please register by emailing sonderkurse.sz"AT"uni-hamburg.de. Before the courses start you will be informed whether you have been granted a place in the course.

Please include the following information in your email:

  • Full Name
  • Email Address
  • Status (e.g., staff member, PhD student, etc.)
  • The course or courses you wish to attend

Please note that Bachelor’s and Master’s students are given priority in these courses.

Bachelor’s and Master’s students can register directly for the courses through STiNE during the registration phases.

German Courses Level A1 and A2

The General Language Department offers German courses at levels A1 and A2 for PhD students and staff.
