University advising offices

Are you unsure whether your current degree program is right for you? Are you unsure whether you can change your minor or whether you even want to continue studying? You can take advantage of the Center for Academic Advising’s walk-in office hours to address these and other questions. - Psychological Counseling

At PIASTA, international students can access legal support in matters pertaining to residency law. - Counseling Center for Social and International Affairs
The Counseling Center for Social and International Affairs assists enrolled and prospective students with their search for solutions to social, personal, and financial problems that arise in connection with their studies. Advisors can also help you with questions about residence, studying with a disability, and studying as a parent or during pregnancy. - Office of Advising for Sexual Discrimination and Violence
The Office of Advising for Sexual Discrimination and Violence advises and supports students who have been sexually harassed within the context of Universität Hamburg. - Office for Students with Disabilities and Chronic Illnesses

General services for new residents—advising on childcare, schooling, health, housing, leisure activities, etc. By appointment, initial registration and issuing of residence permit for international students - ÖRA (public legal advice)
Legal consultation is available in all areas of the law. Anyone with a low income and who lives or works in Hamburg can get legal advice. - Verbraucherzentrale Hamburg (consumer protection agency)
- The consumer protection agency Verbraucherzentrale Hamburg can advise you on many topics, such as broadcasting fees, insurance policies, and mobile phone contracts. See the Verbraucherzentrale Hamburg’s multilingual brochures for an overview of topics.
- Mieter helfen Mietern (advocacy organization for renters)
If you have problems with your rental contract or the property owner, you can contact the renters’ advocacy organization Mieter helfen Mietern. For €35, they will provide their services for 2 months. Based on the supporting documents you provide, lawyers will answer your questions, clarify your rights, and help you formulate letters. Please note that the two-month short membership can only be taken out on site at the headquarters, Bartelstraße 30, 20359 Hamburg - biff (women’s advising services)
