Strategic networks
Universität Hamburg—University of Excellence has systematically expanded its strategic networks. Targeted funding lines, events, and formats not only foster international cooperation at all levels of the University but also increase its visibility as an excellent, globally networked research institution.
Next Generation Partnerships—Thematic Networks
Next Generation Partnerships—Thematic Networks (NGP) support University of Hamburg researchers in expanding and further developing sustainable, multilateral networks. This funding line promotes the preparation of a long-term, externally funded project with a particular focus on early career researchers, in collaboration with strategic and international partner institutions.
Funding line International Teaching and Learning
International Teaching and Learning (ILLF), a funding line provided by the Department of International Affairs, promotes teaching and learning formats in cooperation with international partner universities. Funded through the Excellence Strategy, it focuses on virtual and blended teaching and learning formats, carried out in cooperation with strategic partner universities and potential partners. Joint virtual learning experiences enable students of the University of Hamburg and its partner universities to gain valuable international and intercultural experience without having to travel. This also cultivates cooperation between the University and its strategic and potential partners.
Funding line Trilateral Exchange Program for Administrative Staff
The Trilateral Exchange Program for Administrative Staff (TriStaX) is a cooperation between the University of Hamburg, Northwestern University (USA), and Stellenbosch University (South Africa). On a rotational cycle, each of the partner institutions provides a one-week program on a range of topics once a year. TriStaX provides administrative staff with an opportunity to develop professionally and deepen their expertise while promoting intercultural exchange between the universities.
Hamburg Networking Conference
Established in 2019, the Hamburg Networking Conference (HNC), which takes place every 2 years, provides a platform for connecting with international university partners at the administrative level. It promotes dialogue on current topics in research and teaching, yields new collaboration opportunities, and helps existing bilateral partnerships grow into broad-based, multilateral focus networks.
Master of International Business and Sustainability
The MIBAS project is aimed at increasing the degree of internationalization in the English-language Master of International Business and Sustainability (MIBAS). The project scope involves developing formats for research, strategic work, and marketing measures. The experience and knowledge gained in the project can be applied to other international degree programs at the University of Hamburg.
International University Marketing
Implemented in 2023, this funding line is aimed at increasing our visibility as an excellent, globally networked research institution to attract more international researchers. Measures include internal professional development and networking activities, work on international media relations, and targeted social media campaigns.
