Sustainability
A sustainable university
Since 2010, the University of Hamburg has been one of Germany’s first large universities to focus on sustainability in every aspect, combining academic excellence with its efforts towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the UN in 2015.
Sustainability is seen to be closely interwoven with the consistent advancement and implementation of Humboldt’s idea that education is achieved through scholarly pursuit.
University for a Sustainable Future
The University of Hamburg sees itself as an intermediary between science and research and practice. The University focuses on key issues of the future and also wants to contribute to responsibly shaping society.
