Placement test

The free placement test helps you determine your language level so that you can register for a language course that matches your skills. The test assesses various language abilities, such as grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Only after you, as a student, have either completed the test or submitted a standardized certificate, can you select language courses through STiNE during the registration phases. For employees, this test is optional.

Information about the test:

  • Requirement: B-ID and password (for UHH students and employees only)
  • The test can be taken once per semester
  • Once started, the test cannot be paused or retaken
  • Duration: 50 minutes
  • The result will be displayed immediately after completing the test
  • If your result is, for example, B2, you can only register for B2 courses
  • Instructions can be found here
