General terms of participation
Give others a chance—cancel your registration in good time! Failing to cancel in time means that another student cannot take your place. We always strive to fill places and give interested students a chance to participate.
Our program is only available thanks to the outstanding commitment of your fellow students!Our events are organized by committed international tutors at Universität Hamburg. They are solely responsible for the organization of events, which are a highly valued contribution to intercultural life on campus. We ask for your understanding that we cannot offer sufficient places for all students at Universität Hamburg.

How can I register?
Who can participate?
1. Our events target all (international and German) students and doctoral students enrolled at Universität Hamburg as well as those enrolled in the pre-semester preparatory course or Studienkolleg Hamburg.
2. Graduates are only allowed to participate in seminars and workshops relating to jobs, internships, and the first career steps in the first two years after graduating.
3. Students from other universities are welcome to attend the Intercultural PIASTA Evenings and to visit the Language Café, but unfortunately cannot participate in events that require registration. (The cultural events and leisure activities subsidized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as well as the free seminars and workshops are only open to students of Universität Hamburg. Given that demand exceeds the number of places available for your chosen event, we are unfortunately also unable to make any exceptions.)
4. HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU): HCU students are also able to register for the PIASTA Language Tandem Service.
How can I cancel my registration?
You can easily cancel your registration for an event on UHH Join with a single click. Just click the “Cancel” button in your confirmation and reminder email, in your UHH Join Timetable, or directly in the event description on UHH Join. You will find mor Information about UHH Join here.
What happens if I fail to attend an event without cancelling beforehand?
If you do not participate in an event you have registered for in the category of “Seminar and Workshops” or “Cultural Events and Leisure Activities” three times and did not cancel in advance, you will no longer be allowed to register for further PIASTA events.
Please remember to cancel your registration well in advance next time so that your place can be offered to other students. You can easily cancel your registration for an event on UHH Join with a single click.
What happens if I register using false or incorrect information?
If you enter incorrect or different email addresses, you won’t be able to receive important notifications. If your information is incorrect or incomplete, your registration will be canceled. If we determine that you have registered using the wrong name or wrong student ID number, you will not be allowed to register for any more of our events. We would consider this action as a deliberate attempt to deceive.
What happens with my registration details?
Your registration details will only be used by us to organize events (emails, e.g., advising of the meeting place), send you the newsletter, and evaluate events. They will not be passed on to third parties. When you register, you will receive our weekly newsletter with invitations to international events.
