Registration and participation conditions
Be fair to others—cancel your registration in good time!
Not canceling your registration in good time means another student is prevented from attending in your place. If you do not cancel your registration, we are unable to offer your place to another student. As we find it important and fair that no place remains empty, we aim to fill possible vacancies with interested students who are eager to participate.
PIASTA services are only available thanks to the outstanding commitment of your fellow students!
Our program is organized by committed international tutors at Universität Hamburg. They are exclusively responsible for the organization of events, which are a highly valued contribution to intercultural life on campus. We ask for your understanding that we cannot offer sufficient places for all students at Universität Hamburg to participate in an event.
PIASTA welcomes all students
We welcome all students regardless of nationality, (trans)cultural identity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, social background, religion, and ideology. Organizers retain the right to exclude participants who make discriminatory statements or engage in discriminatory behavior.
Who can participate?
- Our events target all international and German students and doctoral researchers enrolled at Universität Hamburg as well as those enrolled on the presemester preparatory course or Studienkolleg Hamburg.
- Graduates are only allowed to participate in seminars and workshops in the first 2 years after graduating.
- Unfortunately, students from other universities are not permitted to take part in the events. (The events subsidized by the German Academic Exchange Service [DAAD] are only open to students of Universität Hamburg. Given that demand exceeds the number of places available for your chosen event, we are unfortunately also unable to make any exceptions.)
How can I cancel my registration?
You can easily cancel your registration for an event on UHH Join with a single click. Just click the “Cancel” button in your confirmation and reminder email in your UHH Join timetable or directly in the event description on UHH Join. Find more information about UHH Join.
What happens if I do not participate in an event without canceling my registration beforehand?
If you do not participate in an event you have registered for in the category of “Seminar and Workshops”, "Time to write" or "Writing Consultations" 3 times and did not cancel, you will not be allowed to register for future events.
Remember to cancel your registration well in advance. If you do not cancel, other students will not be able to participate, and the place will remain empty. You can easily cancel your registration for an event on UHH Join with a single click.
What happens if I register using false or incorrect information?
If you enter incorrect or different email addresses, you will not be able to receive important notifications. If your information is incorrect or incomplete, your registration will be canceled. If we determine that you have registered using the wrong name or wrong student ID number, you will not be allowed to register for any of our future events with immediate effect. We would consider this action as a deliberate attempt to deceive.
What happens with my registration details?
Your registration details will only be used by us to organize events (emails, e.g., advising of the meeting place), send you the current information with regard to events, and evaluate events.
