Dynamical systems are mathematical models of systems that change with time. Such systems are often chaotic, and hard to understand. To understanding chaotic behaviour it is important to know how often and to what extent the state of the system is close to a certain fixed state. In applications it is important to understand these things, since it gives information about extreme events such as extreme weather and catastrophes: extreme events can be understood as that the state of the system is close to a bad state. TUTUHARDS aims to obtain new insights for this aspect of dynamical systems.
