EXIST Service
At the University of Hamburg, various EXIST programs funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) are implemented to support business start-ups.
This service page provides information for prospective founders, start-up teams, and the UHH administration about the administrative processes involved in application support and project implementation.

EXIST Business Start-up Grant (EGS)
- For business start-ups at universities or non-university research institutions
- Duration: 1 year
- Founders receive a one-year grant at UHH (not an employment contract)

EXIST Women (EWO)
- Scholarships for future female founders to strengthen diversity in entrepreneurship
- Duration: 1 year
- EWO scholarship holders may receive a three-month stipend for living expenses (not an employment contract), plus €2,000 gross for material resources as well as various forms of support.

EXIST Research Transfer (EFT)
- For outstanding research-based start-up projects
- Duration: 2 years
- All project staff are employed by UHH (and thus UHH members).
