Digital health literacy for University of Hamburg students and staff
In an increasingly digital world, confident and competent use of digital health information plays a central role in our well-being and health. Digital health literacy refers to the ability to find, understand, evaluate, and use digital information about health, prevention, and illness in a meaningful way for oneself.
Why is digital health literacy important?
Whether it is online consultations, health apps, or reliable information on nutrition, exercise, and mental health, digital services have become an integral part of everyday life. For students and university employees in particular, this means:
- recognizing reliable information, distinguishing reputable sources from unreliable ones
- protecting your own health data by maintaining data protection and privacy
- using digital services wisely, from fitness trackers to telemedicine.
- strengthening mental health, starting with being familiar with the counseling services offered by the respective university.
