Our Program

Since Winter semester 2015/16, the Universität Hamburg through its study orientation program #UHHhilft guides refugees willing to study in Germany, whom for fleeing are unable to continue their studies in their home countries. Our team helps them find their path through the regular studies and also advice regarding Study programs, applications and orientations in the Universität.

Also, we offer study related guidance to refugee students already admitted at the Universität.

#UHHhilftstart – Study Preparation

Have you already studied in your country of origin or obtained a university entrance qualification or a high school diploma and would like to apply for a course of study at a Hamburg university? In #UHHhilftstart, our tutors will guide you in our weekly meetings towards the way to your application and guide you through the modules of study preparation.

#UHHhilftstart takes place in the summer semester from April to September and in the winter semester from October to March. Registration is possible from 01.02. – 15.03. and from 01.08. – 15.09.

• Find out about the study opportunities at UHH in our tutorials and get advice on the study requirements.
• Receive individual assistance with your application.
• Take part in our workshops on learning strategies and soft skills as well as in the women's meeting.
• Benefit from access to the UHH libraries and university sports, among others.

Eligibility requirements

• Being a refugee/ having a refugee status.
• You would like to apply for a place at a Hamburg university.
•  You have German or English language skills to at least level B1.

#UHHHilft on campus – Orientation Studies

Do you have a recognized university entrance qualification and would like to gain initial study experience?

Apply to #UHHHilftoncampus and do a "trial study". As a participant of #UHHHilftoncampus, you regularly attend introductory seminars and lectures of a course of study and conclude them with examinations. You can have your achievements credited in a later, regular course of study.

#UHHhilftpro – Study Support

People with a refugee background who have already received a regular place at Universität Hamburg often experience special challenges when starting their studies. Through targeted support in scientific writing processes or the organization of studies, #UHHhilftpro also support refugees during their studies.
