Senior Professorships
By establishing senior professorships, the University of Hamburg enables outstanding qualified external professors from Germany or abroad or professors already employed by the University to continue their academic work after retirement.
Legal basis
“A retired professor from the University or from another university in Germany or abroad may be employed as a professor at the University if he or she is exceptionally suitable, but for no longer than until the end of the last month of the semester in which they reach the age of 75.” (Section 16 subsection 9 HmbHG)
