Dept. 1: University Strategy
The Department of University Strategy supports the Executive University Board’s strategic goals and the University’s development. It is responsible for steering the overall process, as detailed by the Executive University Board and, in some cases, other entities entitled to make decisions. It ensures that these goals are implemented (e.g., through strategic appointments), monitors the implementation of measures, evaluates whether targets have been reached, and reports on results. It also ensures that the tasks carried out at the University meet established quality requirements.
- Section 11: University Development
This section prepares the target and performance agreements with the state of Hamburg, the faculties, and the University’s centralized institutions. It also coordinates subject advisory panels and prepares reports for specific groups. - Section 12: Excellence Strategy
This section is responsible for coordinating the ongoing monitoring of measures in the second funding line of the excellence comptition. It is also responsible for reporting to the financial backers of the excellence competition and for supervising the Executive University Board’s external expert panels in the 5 performance areas. This section will support the University leadership in the upcoming years as it develops an integrated quality management system at the University, as required by the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat).
