The Department of University Strategy supports the Executive University Board’s strategic goals and the University’s development.

University development

We prepare target and performance agreements with the state of Hamburg, the faculties, and the University’s centralized institutions and coordinate subject advisory panels and the development of 20 of the University’s substrategies.
Planning of professorships

We assist the Executive University Board with the Structure and Development Plan and with strategic appointment planning. In addition, we supervise the application process of job advertisements for professorships as well as designation changes and provide statements on all appointment processes.
Reporting

We coordinate subject advisory panels and prepare reports for specific groups, including the annual reports of the Executive University Board.
Flagship university

We assist with the strategic orientation of the Flagship University: Innovating and Cooperating for a Sustainable Future concept.
Excellence Strategy

We coordinate and monitor all projects from the Excellence Strategy (second funding line) and supervise the panels in the 5 performance areas.

The Institutional Research Unit is the the information and competence center for key figures and internal university statistics. We support the University’s planning, controlling, reporting, and quality management processes.
