Dept. 8: Property Management
What we do
We are responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the University’s properites, including all commercial, technical, and infrastructural aspects of property maintenance. Our department consists of the following sections:
- Section 81: Commercial Property Management
We are responsible for the commercial property management budget process and administrating long-term lease agreements signed by Universität Hamburg.
- Section 82: Infrastructural Facility Management
Sections 82 and 83 jointly ensure property management operations with regard to the buildings and exterior areas. The team provides an on-site point of contact for all questions and issues related to property management.

- Section 84: Project Management and Major Construction Projects
We focus on the process of carrying out and supervising large construction measures for the tenant-landlord model.
We develop quality standards, represent property users in the planning and implementation stages, and take on the technical coordination of user needs.
We can advise you on all issues of energy assessment and energy efficiency measures. - Section 85: Construction Planning and Management
We carry out the planning of renovation, maintenance, and refurbishment measures for Universität Hamburg and ensure all planned measures are properly carried out. Our team plans and monitors contracts granted to external service providers.We monitor internal construction measures from the planning stage to completion. Our duties also include the optimization of building services and energy efficiency, as well as ensuring technical building services, including the design of exterior areas.
- Section 86: Campus Development
We are responsible for the various research facilities in the Hamburg metropolitan region and take care of the administration, planning, and need-based allocation of the existing room and space resources to ensure that appropriate spaces are swiftly made available for research and teaching activities. We are also currently intensively involved with urban development in the Science City Bahrenfeld project currently under construction. - Property Data Management Unit
We are responsible for all departmental data management processes.We create, structure, update, and secure the archiving, exchange, publication, and assessment of property data which form the basis of many other Universität Hamburg processes.
