Tasks
The climate and environment representative of Universität Hamburg actively supports the University on its path toward becoming a climate-neutral institution. The Executive University Board has delegated moderation and coordination responsibilities to this representative for this process. Concretely, the representative will moderate the Sustainable Development Action Team; develop a climate plan; create working packages with suggestions for a climate-neutral campus; and report on current processes to the Executive University Board, the Academic Senate, the University Chamber, and the University Council.
Objective
Universität Hamburg is committed to its mission under the banner Innovating and Cooperating for a Sustainable Future. As part of Agenda 2030, it is working systematically to reach the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goal is to achieve climate neutrality before 2030. To do so, the University will develop a climate plan as a basis for binding measures that will be agreed upon and implemented.
Organization of work
A working group has been established to develop the climate plan for Universität Hamburg. Sustainability and climate topics will be broached in 5 main areas: university development and communication, knowledge exchange and society, studies and teaching, research, and campus and administration. Each area is overseen by a member of the Executive University Board; together, this group will form the Sustainable Development Action Team, where results from each area will be consolidated.
Open participation
Members of the University are invited to actively join us in reaching our goal of climate neutrality in the near future. Send your suggestions, ideas, and possible measures to kub"AT"uni-hamburg.de.
