The lecture series “Everyday Multilingualism” is a joint initiative by the CODILAC project team and the Faculty of Education, as part of the Ringvorlesungen offered at the University of Hamburg for the Summer Semester 2026.
The series aims at exploring how multilingual practices shape social interaction, identity formation, migration experiences, and institutional contexts. The series also addresses broader societal questions, such as how institutions respond to linguistic diversity and how multilingual realities challenge traditional ideas of language boundaries.
The programme is quite rich and it brings together scholars from different scientific communities and contexts. Among these, CODILAC's Mercator Fellows, Edgar Schneider, Stefanie Pillai and Loy Lising, will also contribute to the series with their great expertise.
With its interdisciplinary focus, the lecture series provides an important platform for discussing linguistic diversity and offers stimulating impulses for our ongoing research within CODILAC.
The lecture series will take place starting from 5 May 2026 at UHH (Von-Melle-Park 8, room 06) from 18:15 – 19:45 CET.
