Open innovation aims to make innovation transparent, consensus-oriented and democratic. Innovation actors share their knowledge in order to improve the quality and social relevance of their innovation activities and to generate synergies beyond the boundaries of their own working group, discipline or even university.

Open innovation also includes social innovations. It is precisely these that can best be shaped together with the actors concerned! For this to happen, the processes must not only be transparent, but also open to different forms of knowledge and skills of participants from science, politics, industry and civil society.
