Professional Vision and STEAM education
Our collaborative research project in science education will be jointly conducted by the Universität Hamburg (Prof. Dietmar Höttecke, Physics Education) and Macquarie University (Dr. Hye-Eun Chu, Senior Lecturer Educational Studies) in Sydney.
The collaborative project aims, first, to develop text-based and video vignettes of classroom practices for teaching specific science topics, and then to evaluate the effectiveness of the videos in developing pre-service teachers’ ability to observe students’ learning difficulties and concept development.
The vignettes developed in MQ will demonstrate teaching practices in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approach, that is, an approach integrating the arts in the teaching/learning of STEM subjects.
