A EUGLOH match-making workshop on the “Convergence of Nanotechnology for Health Care Diagnostics” was recently held at the Center for Hybrid Nanostructures (CHyN) at the Universität Hamburg, hosted by Prof. Dr. Robert Blick.
This hybrid in-person/online event provided an opportunity for inter-disciplinary, international, cross-cultural and inter-generational networking and knowledge exchange. The projects presented ranged from the laboratory bench to promoting healthy lifestyles; from the nanoworld to ours, and was an event where attendees were able to learn more about the health care diagnostics and nanotechnology fields outside their area of specialty.
Participants represented nine institutions in six countries across Europe, conducting research in the EUGLOH network as international scientists or trainees, making this a truly global event. The workshop provided an informal platform for early career scientists to present their work in a friendly environment and promoted discussion between scientists at all career stages, not only for finding new solutions for managing health care, but training and mentoring some of the next generation of health care innovators. By bringing this broad range of experts and trainees together, the workshop in Hamburg created a springboard for new collaborative proposals that will begin to address some of the global health challenges facing our world.
