HARC Seed Money

To foster and enhance a vibrat career and research culture at University of Hamburg, you can apply for grassroot funding to advance a relevant project in your group, institute, faculty or institution. Proposals can be creative and innovative, we only suggest that you focus on one (or more) relevant themes:

• Promoting career development
• Enabling and strengthening a sense of belonging
• Fostering recognition and appreciation
• Improving healthy working conditions
• Promoting collegiality

In 2025, proposals included, for example, an art project on power relations in academia, a project improving supervision and leadership skills, a postdoc meetup, an alumni network, and intercultural trainings.

Funding of up to 5000 Euros/project is available and applications should include a proposal (max. 2 pages detailing the project and its objectives, the connection to the relevant themes, and the planned use of funds).

The funding decisions are made by the HARC Steering Committee (members include vice-deans, researchers, administrative staff).
