Researcher & Lecturer positions at University of Hamburg
In 2025, University of Hamburg introduced the new permanent career paths of (Senior) Researcher & (Senior) Lecturer. These positions are either tenured as Researcher and Lecturer or immediately permanent as Senior Researcher and Senior Lecturer, depending on the call and specifics of the advertised position.
Both career paths offer:
- An attractive and reliable career path for postdocs, permeable to the professoral path
- A high level of indpendence in research and teaching
- Each position is embedded within several professorships and thus offers an interdisciplinary focus; while disciplinarily the positions are assigned to a formal unit (e.g. institute's office)
- The teaching commitment involves 9 LVS for Lecturers, 9-12 LVS for Senior Lecturers; up to 9 LVS for Researchers and Senior Researchers
