Subprojects
CODILAC consists of seven subprojects focusing on the following world regions selected against their presumed relevance for a global comparison of English in multilingual ecologies as well as the research backgrounds of the participating project leaders.
Data will be collected across important macro-regions in Africa and Asia, such as West Africa (Nigeria), East Africa (Tanzania), and Southern Africa (Botswana), the Middle East (Iraq, Turkey), South Asia (especially Northeast India), as well as the Southeast Asian peninsulas and archipelagos of the Philippines. With Cyprus, it further incorporates a European multilingual context of considerable complexity. Taken together, the seven research projects offer considerable regional spread as well as extensive cultural, ethnic, and linguistic diversity.
