Apply by January 4, 2027, for the Women’s Advancement Fund, the Equal Opportunity Fund, the Equal Opportunity Prize, the Agathe Lasch Coaching Program + Diversity, and the Agathe Lasch Visiting Scientist Program for Women. In addition to funding for projects and initiatives, student support for the reconciliation of career and family, completion scholarships, coaching, and visiting scholars, the program also recognizes outstanding commitment to equal opportunity at the UHH.
Agathe Lasch Coaching Program + Diversity
The Agathe Lasch Coaching Program + Diversity offers early-career researchers the opportunity to reflect on topics related to their daily work and questions regarding their professional positioning through individual coaching sessions. The coaching program is primarily designed to support women, but it is expanded to include junior professors, academics working on their Habilitation, and postdoctoral researchers based on diversity considerations (e.g., disability/illness, caregiving responsibilities, migration background).
Agathe Lasch Visiting Scientist Program for Women in Academia
The Agathe Lasch Visiting Scientist Program funds three- to six-month stays at the University of Hamburg for visiting female scholars from Germany and abroad. The program was designed to help female academics in underrepresented fields become a strong and more visible presence.
Women’s Advancement Fund
The Women’s Advancement Fund supports projects aimed at reducing gender-based disadvantages in academic studies, teaching, research, as well as in administration – for example, teaching and research projects and events related to women’s and gender studies (including work-life balance), projects focused on implementing gender mainstreaming and reconciling academic, professional, and family responsibilities, as well as training programs for women.
Equal Opportunity Fund
The Equal Opportunity Fund aims to provide funding for initiatives in the areas of equity that contribute to fulfilling the university’s commitment to equal opportunity in three ways:
- Funding projects directly related to the topics of gender, diversity, and combining family and career (e.g., teaching initiatives, conferences, exhibitions, or support for research grant applications),
- Awarding scholarships for the final phase of dissertations and habilitation theses to early-career female researchers as part of efforts to promote women,
- Funding student support (SHK) for early-career researchers with children or family members requiring care to improve the work-life balance.
Equal Opportunity Prize
The Equal Opportunity Prize is presented annually for outstanding, visible, and sustainable activities promoting equal opportunity measures in the areas of gender equality, diversity, and family/care at the University. The prize is worth €10,000.
Further information, calls for applications, guidelines, and the respective application portals see Fundings on the website of the Equity Unit.
