Graduates of the MSc Atmospheric Science face excellent career prospects both in academia and the private sector. About half of our graduates pursue a PhD as next step of their academic career. After your graduation, you will be in a very good position to apply worldwide for PhD positions at renowned international universities and institutions. Or you want to stay at Hamburg? The International Max Planck Research School on Earth System Modelling (IMPRS-ESM) and the School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences (SICSS) are two excellence graduate school to continue your studies at KlimaCampus Hamburg. In a world of changing climate and a transformation to sustainable economy, there is a growing demand for Atmospheric Scientist in the private sector as well. As graduate you will find attractive position as consultant for renewable energies or as environmental expert for insurances, city planners etc. If it comes to weather and climate prediction, Atmospheric Scientist are needed to issues warnings, ensure safe operation of traffic or power grids and finally advise the public how to adapt to weather and climate risks. Apart from Atmospheric Science, our graduates are very welcome in any business requiring skills to solve complex problems, like for examples logistics or in the broad field of data science.
