In 2024, a total of 5,931 degrees were awarded at the University of Hamburg. Of these, 61.1 percent were female graduates and 10.8 percent were international students.

The University of Hamburg is active in numerous and diverse research projects. In addition to the 4 clusters of excellence CLICCS, CUI, QU, and UWA, there are numerous collaborative research centers, research training groups, research groups, priority programs, junior research groups, ERC grants, and other projects funded by the EU, the BMFTR, and the state.
