Retrospective on the Technology Platforms Day 2025

On the second day of the open house of the University of Hamburg’s Technology Platforms on February 5, 2025, we welcomed numerous visitors from a variety of disciplines and institutions to the Department of Chemistry.

After a warm welcome by Prof. Wolfgang Hillert, Vice Dean for Research, and Prof. Markus Fischer, Deputy Head of the Department of Chemistry, the diverse opportunities offered by the UHH Technology Platforms were presented. The focus was on the areas of mass spectrometry, electron and light microscopy, cryo-electron microscopy, NMR spectroscopy, and the CHyN cleanroom. The aim was to demonstrate how researchers can make optimal use of these resources to advance their projects. Susanne Witt also introduced protein production at the Centre for Structural Systems Biology. Stories from users gave us an insight how platform technology is advancing research.

In the afternoon, the platform teams welcomed numerous scientists for guided tours of the technical facilities, vividly illustrating the technical capabilities and applications.
