Combining Studies or Work and Family Life

The compatibility of study, work, and family is an important aspect of equal opportunity. To increase the proportion of women at all qualification levels, Universität Hamburg continually improves studying and working conditions for students and staff with children or relatives in need of care. The goal is to ensure that women and men have equal opportunities.

family-friendly higher education audit

In the summer of 2010, the University applied to take part in a family-friendly higher education audit (“audit familiengerechte hochschule”—fgh). This procedure was successfully completed and a certificate attesting to the University’s status as a family-friendly institution was issued on 30 August 2010. Family Office

One result of the audit was the creation of the Family Office at Universität Hamburg. The Family Office is a central service point for all questions about combining study, work, and family obligations.
