Extracurricular activities
Get involved!
Studying means attending lectures, cramming, giving presentations, and writing exams. True, but there is definitely more that matters! Uni Hamburg's students can choose choose from a range of activities outside the classroom.
University politics: AStA and StuPa
If you are interested in politics, you can join student council (Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss, AStA) or student parliament (Studierendenparlament, StuPa).
AStA members are elected by the student parliament. Both committees represent the interests of all students at Uni Hamburg. Elections for the student parliament are held at the beginning of each year. If you want to run for office, you can either join a University group, or stand as an independent candidate.
Another way to get involved in University politics is joining one of the other student councils.
University Music
University Music is far less academic than its name implies! It stands for having fun with music.
The musicians and singers in our choir and orchestra, jazz big band and the Monteverdi Choir are well-known for their regular, almost professional concerts. But, do not worry: You must not be a professional musician in order to join! Quite on the contrary, we always welcome new musicians and singers.
Visit University Music online for a surface impression. Newcomers will find general information as well as our concert calendar.
University Sports
Dig up your sports shoes! Fencing, soccer (German football), Argentine tango or yoga - University Sports offers a broad spectrum of sports classes, seven days a week, as often as you wish! This not only helps you stay fit, but is also a great opportunity to get in touch with other students.
Newcomers can try out our offerings at a reduced rate during our regular Schnupperwochen at the start of each semester.
