In preparation for the University of Excellence evaluation by the German Council of Science and Humanities, our University’s excellence website had a makeover. Its modern look and feel accentuates the presentation of University achievements within the Excellence Strategy and its future goals.

Above all, the redesigned website shows how the University has lived up to its title “University of Excellence” in the past 6 years. The focus is on the people who are shaping excellence in research, teaching, and knowledge exchange—ranging from the nucleus professor to the coordinator of the electron cryo-microscopy technology platform. Enhanced by a modern, image-oriented layout the website not only illustrates everything that has been achieved, it also explains how the funding fosters excellence at the University of Hamburg.

A focus on cooperation

Covering a broad spectrum of topics, the University’s 4 clusters of excellence take center stage. Their outstanding interdisciplinary research forms the basis for the University’s successes in the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Governments. Moreover, the University has initiated and expanded a range of cooperations with various universities and nonuniversity institutions such as Pier PLUS or the Hub for Crossdisciplinary Learning. The importance of networking and cooperation is reflected by the website’s focus on approaches which strengthen regional and global knowledge exchange.

Who benefits?

The website redesign, which was realized by a working group in close interdepartmental exchange with numerous stakeholders at the University, enables the various status groups to search for funding options and offers tailored to their needs. In addition, interested visitors get an idea of how excellence shapes cross-cutting fields of action such as career paths and sustainability.
