This event takes place in German.
The workshop "Fundamentals of Data Protection" is specifically tailored to the requirements and questions of the university context and covers the following topics:
- Introduction to the fundamentals of data protection: The meaning and objectives of data protection, as well as the legal framework, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Principles of processing personal data: Requirements for the collection, processing, and storage of personal data.
- Data subject rights: The focus is on the obligation to provide information and how to handle data breaches in order to protect the rights of students, staff, and other individuals.
This training is aimed at all university staff who handle personal data in their daily work and wish to familiarize themselves with the fundamentals of data protection.
Key topics include:
- Applicability and terminology of the GDPR
- Requirements for the permissibility of data processing
- Explanation of data subject rights
- Documentation of data processing
- Measures to take in the event of a data breach
All training courses offered by the MMKH are free of charge for employees of the University of Hamburg.
