Informations from public universities are becoming increasingly important, such as geodata, weather data, and data on cultural holdings, for example, from memory institutions (libraries, museums, archives).
At the national level, the reuse of this information by private entities has been legally regulated since 2021 by the Data Use Act (DNG) of July 16, 2021. At the EU level, the new Data Governance Act (DGA) of May 30, 2022, also provides a regulatory framework for the reuse of public data.
The application of the new data use law raises numerous legal questions, some of which are still unresolved, touching on various areas of law, such as freedom of information law, data protection law, copyright law, and competition law.
The proactive provision of administrative data, so-called Open Government Data, is also affected.
This workshop provides an overview of the legal framework of the Online Access Act (OZG) in the university context and is aimed at newcomers and other interested parties. Technical guidance is not provided. However, participants are invited to prepare their own questions/case studies in advance and present them during the workshop.
Key topics include:
- Digital Governance Act (DGA)
- Data Use Act (DNG)
- Open Data
All training courses offered by the MMKH are free of charge for employees of the University of Hamburg.
Registration is available on the website.
