The Deutschlandstipendium Coordination Office and the preparatory study programme for refugees, #UHHhilft have been cooperating since 2016. Over the years, many students with a refugee background at the University of Hamburg have received support through a Deutschlandstipendium (such as the Ukrainian student Liudmyla Padalko; see portrait photo above). Many of them have since successfully completed their degrees and now work, for example, as young doctors in hospitals and medical practices across the metropolitan region. This success has also gained nationwide recognition, as illustrated by an article in the newsletter of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF):

Currently, 280 students at the University of Hamburg are supported through the Deutschlandstipendium. This excellence scholarship, amounting to €300 per month, is jointly funded in equal parts by the federal government/the City of Hamburg and by private (non-governmental) sponsors. If you have any questions about the scholarship programme, please feel free to contact Dr Andrea Schultze, Head of the Deutschlandstipendium Coordination Office, by email at andrea.schultze"AT"uni-hamburg.de
