On April 24, 2024, we visited the German Port Museum for an interesting exchange and to explore cooperation opportunities. Dr. Dominik Hünninger is an environmental and science historian, works there as a curator, and is responsible for the science area, particularly innovation research. The German Port Museum belongs to the network of the Foundation of Hamburg's Historic Museums, but its location on Veddel (Australiastrasse, Schuppen 50 A) is still under development. During a tour, we learned interesting facts about the museum's history, located in the middle of the former free port where one can gain insight into the time when containers were not yet used for cargo handling, and we were able to catch a glimpse of the over 100-year-old four-masted barque PEKING and other historic watercraft.
Many actors are involved in activities and development of the location, and thus co-creative collaboration opportunities may arise in the near future between the museum and the Co-Creation & Engagement Center of the University of Hamburg. We thank you for the exciting insight and will stay in touch.
