Starting now, research projects are on display in the HCHE lobby on large-format fabric panels—grounded in science yet presented in language accessible to the general public. Visitors are introduced to nine topics:
- Are we prepared for new pandemics?
- Mental health: the widespread public health issue
- New perspectives on outpatient care
- How can healthcare be financed sustainably?
- How are hospitals preparing for the future?
- Can we still afford to grow old?
- What is the situation regarding skilled workers?
- Can medications be both innovative and affordable?
- What is the balance between the costs and benefits of healthcare programs?
“The goal is to make currently debated topics in healthcare accessible to many people and, in particular, to inspire the next generation to pursue Health Economics,” explains Prof. Dr. Jonas Schreyögg, academic director of the HCHE. For this reason, the exhibition is explicitly aimed at high school students from the Hamburg region. In addition, subject groups, such as health insurance companies and medical associations, can register for a tour of the exhibition followed by a discussion.
The exhibition content is in English; an audio guide and a German translation are available. The exhibition is open until the end of the year.

About the HCHE
The interdisciplinary research center has been located in the University of Hamburg buildings since 2011. With more than 100 researchers, it is one of the largest health economics centers in Europe. In the area of education, the HCHE offers a master’s degree program in health economics and trains doctoral candidates through, among other things, a graduate college funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
