As an auditing student at Univeristät Hamburg, you can improve your knowledge of specific subjects without striving for a degree.
Auditing students are not enrolled at Universität Hamburg and are not eligible for student benefits.
Registering
You can register as an auditing student as of 1 March for summer semesters or 1 September for winter semesters of the same year. Applications must be submitted in writing and are valid for one semester only. There is a fee obligation of EUR 102 per course (in accordance with the fee regulations for higher education of 6 December 1988). This fee must be paid after your application has been processed and you have received your payment card. You can get the
application (pdf) and payment card from
Services for Students. Once your payment has been received, we will send your auditing student ID.
Our offer
Auditing students can attend all lectures but permission by the instructor is required to attend all other courses (seminars, labs, language courses, internships, etc.) in accordance with § 7 (1) sentence 2 of the Auditing Student Regulations. You can acquire permission on the first day of the course using your course checklist, which you need to submit with your application. If you do not submit this checklist when you apply, you will not be permitted to audit the course.
You may only audit courses in accordance with
Approbationsordnungen (exam regulations) for physicians and exam regulations for dentists if you can demonstrate that you have passed exams in medicine at a German university or comparable examinations abroad. For all other medical courses, the conditions above apply. Furthermore, it is not possible to audit courses listed in the appendix to the Auditing Student Regulations (see the so-called "Negative catalog" below).
Lectures and courses at Universität Hamburg are published every semester in the course catalog, which you can buy at local bookstores. In addition, the individual departments issue "annotated course catalogs" which you can acquire from the respective department.
