In February, the 360° Gender in Research (GinF) project invites academic staff of all Universities in Hamburg to two talks with internationally renowned Stanford Professor Londa Schiebinger, John L. Hinds Professor of History of Science, Stanford University and Director of the Gendered Innovations in Science, Health & Medicine, Environment and Engineering Project. One talk addresses professors, the other includes a workshop and addresses postdocs and doctoral candidates.
In both talks, Londa Schiebinger will explore how integrating gender analysis into research and innovation can uncover new opportunities and drive excellence in science and technology. The talks will provide an insight into international research, with a specific focus on STEM disciplines and medicine, in which questions of gender have provided a decisive gain in knowledge.
Talk for Professors
The talk on February 6th explicitly addresses professors who have not yet carried out research in the areas mentioned above, but who are interested in exploring these issues in light of the requirements of third-party funding providers, e.g., Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, European Commission, etc.
The 360° Gender in Research (GinF) project invites professors from all Hamburg universities to this project kick-off. With this event, they are providing an initial impetus to debate the relevance of gender dimensions in research and to identify potential opportunities for a broader integration of gender aspects in research at Hamburg's universities.
