Twenty-first Hamburg Model United NationsStudents from all over the world take part in Model United Nations at Universität Hamburg

From 28 November to 1 December 2019 at Universität Hamburg, students from all over the world will debate, negotiate, and mediate during the twenty-first Hamburg Model United Nations (HamMUN) in line with this year’s motto, “Shaping a New Era of Diplomacy.” They take part in simulations of UN conferences and committees, including the UN Security Council, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Members of the media are welcome to attend the Hamburg Model United Nations.

The opening ceremony will take place on

Thursday, 28 November 2019 from 3 30 to 5:30 pm Klein Saal, Laeiszhalle Johannes-Brahms-Platz, 20355 Hamburg.

Please register at secretary.general"AT"hammun.de.

Each participant acts as a delegate from a particular country and should represent the nation’s actual foreign policy position in a given committee. The discussions in the various committees span a range of topics, from socio-political and environmental issues to global political matters. All discussions and strategic negotiations take place in English. The goal is to develop a resolution at the end of a committee session.

One of the conference highlights is the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea committee session on Friday, 29 November 2019. The committee will meet in the official rooms of the the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg, with participants acting as governmental representatives and diplomats and negotiating in the dock.

Once again, roughly 600 committed and politically interested participants from all over the world are expected to travel to Hamburg, where they will form 15 committees and debate in line with UN practices.

Universität Hamburg supports Hamburg Model United Nations by providing rooms.
