Körber Fund for Young Researchers

Doctoral students and postdocs at Universität Hamburg. Postdocs may apply up to two years after obtaining their doctorate.

The Körber Fund specifically targets students who are doing individual doctorates without access to the funding sources of a doctoral program.

You can apply for the Körber Young Researcher Grant twice a year. The total funding size is EUR 100,000 per year for a total of three years.

The fund covers speakers‘ fees as well as costs for accommodation, travel, and conference catering.

You can also submit separate requests for financing student assistants.

Maximum funding for individual projects amounts to EUR 10,000.

Your application must include:

• conference concept, proving the relevance of your conference topic (3 pages max)
• letter of recommendation from your supervisor. Please also delineate your own contribution to the event (e.g. presentation, lecture, or participation in the panel discussion)
• agenda for the conference organization
• cost calculation. Please clarify how many participants you expect and itemize the expenses for speakers and other conference participants. If claiming funds for student employees, please describe the extent and nature of their tasks.

Please submit your application documents in printed as well as electronic form (pdf) at Universität Hamburg (see contact box) using the key word: Körber Fund.

If your application is approved, please write up a short report (approx. 2 pages) after the conference and send it to the application address.

Once a year a governing committee - consisting of representatives of Universität Hamburg and the Körber Foundation - selects the most promising projects.

Decisive factors are: innovative strength and relevance of your conference or work shop topic as well as plausibility of the plan and cost calculation.
