The Language Center of the University of Hamburg is an interfaculty institution. All special subject language courses offered within the usual courses of studies make be taken to earn technical language certificates or they can be counted as modules with performance points for many bachelor and master courses of study. At the CGG research is conducted on the basis of external funding and with a strong international orientation. The 2009-2014 research program "Globalization and the Evolution of Institutional Constellations" focuses on international comparative analyses of social change. Change is investigated in five central key research areas: markets, economics and organization; charity societies; climate protection; global governance, constitutionalism and norms as well as labor and family. Furthermore, the CGG hosts a thematic CGG Lecture Series every semester.
