Universität Hamburg offers two kinds of master's programs:
Consecutive master's programs build upon specific bachelor's programs. As a rule, they are two to four-semester programs which build upon, deepen or expand previous bachelor's programs by adding an interdisciplinary focus.
Non-consecutive master's programs do not build upon specific bachelor's programs. They have the same prerequisites, however, as consecutive master's programs and they confer the same qualifications.
Applying online / application documents
You can apply to Universität Hamburg online throughout the application period. The following page and/or pdf brochures contain information about application procedures.
Application requirements for a master's program at Universität Hamburg depend upon the individual program to which you would like to apply. As a rule, however, applicants must prove that they have successfully completed a first-degree program. You can find detailed information in the pdf brochure on applying online to master's programs.
If there are more applicants to a master's program than there are places available, a selection procedure takes place. Selection is based on aptitude and motivation, which means: based on your grade point average in your first-degree program and/or your previous academic achievements at the time you apply.
