University studies are designed to lead to many challenging occupations and university graduates are active in great variety of occupations. So that students may seize upon this flexibility as an opportunity and develop job orientated skills and perspectives within their course of studies, the bachelor's degrees at the Universität Hamburg incorporate a third component in addition to the major and minor subject sequences: The General Professional Skills Course (ABK).
General professional skills are interdisciplinary skills that are both useful during your studies and necessary in all academic occupations. They provide the "key" enabling you to access and develop new spheres of knowledge and activity throughout the course of your life.
A few of these key skills are:
- Social skills (e.g. discussion techniques, conflict management, group and teamwork, intercultural skills)
- Methodological skills (e.g. dealing with the media, information processing, problem solving, moderation and presentation, writing techniques)
- Personal skills (e.g. time and stress management, motivation, creativity, self-management)
- Exploration of prospective areas of employment
- Practical experience via case studies, discussion with professionals and internships

The CampusCenter is located in Alsterterrasse 1. Students and prospective students at Universität Hamburg can find all kinds of information about studying. At Universität Hamburg, a series of master's programs are offerend partly or entirely in English. The spectrum reaches from the "European Master in Law and Economics" to a "Master in International Business Administration" and a "Master in Integrated Climate System Sciences." There are special submission requirements and registration deadlines for these programs, which primarily target international prospective students. The Language Center of the University of Hamburg is an interfaculty institution. All special subject language courses offered within the usual courses of studies make be taken to earn technical language certificates or they can be counted as modules with performance points for many bachelor and master courses of study. Technical language courses are available to all students in English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. All courses are offered by qualified native speakers in small groups and they are free of charge. More... 
The China-EU School of Law (CESL) is an international higher education institution located in Beijing. It is being implemented by a consortium composed of European and universities under the leadership of the Law Faculty of the University of Hamburg. At the CESL postgraduate students are educated, vocational training is being offered to practitioners and joint research activities as well as individual projects and PhD projects are being funded.
English, French, Spanish, Russian, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Low German, Latin and sign language language courses are offered free of charge. They are organized by the Hamburg VHS on behalf of Universität Hamburg (Sprachkurse@uni-hamburg.de ).
