SUMMARY:The end of the West? Perspectives between Hong Kong and Germany
DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Berlin:20260624T180000DTSTAMP:20260704T0409Z
DESCRIPTION:[Die Veranstaltung findet auf Englisch statt.]\n
The West fears its own decline. The world, which the West created through its expansion, has become a world, which increasingly withdraws from Western claims to order. In view of this development, a debate is emerging within the West: Should the old dominance be defended? Is it possible to decline with dignity? And what kind of world is taking shape after the end of the West?\n
Speaker: Dr. Daniel Marwecki, born 1987 in Bremen, is political scientist and teaches International Relations at the University of Hong Kong. Among his German language publications are “Absolution? Israel und die Deutsche Staatsräson” which came out in 2024 and “Die Welt nach dem Westen” of 2025. He regularly writes for various media outlets.\n
Moderator: Prof. Dr. Jürgen Zimmerer\n
The event is part of the Lecture series of the project World Order Narratives of the Global South (WONAGO) led by the University of Hamburg and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies.\n
