Startup Port – For more knowledge-based entrepreneurship
Startup Port bundles the start-up activities of seven universities and other research institutions in the Hamburg metropolitan region. It forms a unifying bracket around the competences, services and networks of the individual science organisations and their partners from transfer, business and politics. With targeted and user-oriented measures, Startup Port promotes knowledge-based start-ups in order to further increase their number, to increase their survivability and to accelerate the growth of newly founded companies. In this way, Startup Port supports the entire start-up ecosystem of the metropolitan region.
The Universität Hamburg is responsible for developing the Startup Port MATES programme as part of the joint project. MATES promotes the cross-university and cross-disciplinary networking of people interested in founding a company and founders from the various joint institutions and pursues the goal of creating successful founding teams and matching co-founders with each other.
Project partners are in addition to Universität Hamburg, Fachhochschule Wedel, Helmut-Schmidt-Universität (HSU), Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg (HAW Hamburg), Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, Technische Universität Hamburg (TUHH), Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) and the associated research institutions DESY and Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon. The Startup Port project is funded by Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi) as part of the program EXIST Potentiale and co-financed by niedersächsische Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst.
