Transferprojekt T2: Qualifizierungsmodul zu Sprache, Sprachentwicklung, Spracherwerbsstörung und Mehrsprachigkeit für ErzieherInnen
Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Monika Rothweiler
In this project a basic and advanced training module for preschool teachers is designed, conducted and evaluated, which – on a linguistic basis – qualifies preschool teachers in the domains of language diagnostics / language assessment and advancement of language proficiency which are relevant for their professional experience.Knowledge in linguistics is fundamental for a high-quality advancement of language proficiency. Co-operation partners are the „Vereinigung der Hamburger Kindertagesstätten gGmbH“, one of the main institutions for preschool education in Hamburg, and the three public vocational schools of social pedagogy situated in Hamburg.
The aim of this training module is to qualify preschool teachers in the field of language. In this context, essential linguistic knowledge, especially in German, systematic aspects in language and theoretical contents in monolingual and bilingual language acquisition should be incorporated as a basis for the practically relevant fields of language diagnostics / language assessment and advancement of language proficiency.
The preschool teachers being trained in this module should be enabled to reflect, to organize and consequently to optimize their personal educational practice in a linguistically substantiated manner with respect to language aspects.
The project is guided by the assumption that the current basic and advanced training of preschool teachers takes linguistic aspects into account in an insufficient manner.
On this note, the module is to be seen as a building block for education at the vocational schools of social pedagogy and as an advanced training module for preschool teachers.
The evaluation of this basic and advanced training module is an essential part of the design. As a further achievement of this project the development of schooling material for the training of preschool teachers is planned.
